Sgraffito Plate Workshop- 4.30pm-6.30pm - 19th October 2025

Sgraffito workshop hosted by Charlie of Murtle and Thyme.

Sgraffito is the art of scratching through a slip or underglaze on green ware (unfired pottery) to reveal the surface underneath creating your design in the contrast of the two. 

Each attendee will be decorating a plate, painted in a black underglaze, ready for carving.

The workshop is inclusive of all materials and firing. I will bring a selection of glaze swatches so each person can choose a colour for their coasters to be finished in. 

Collection will be from the Tide and Earth in around a month/6 weeks and I will let everyone know once they are out of the kiln.

Please bring any books, photographs or drawings along for inspiration.

The most delicious coffee and cake is included in the price, please email me is you require a gluten free/ dairy free cake.

This workshop is particularly special as I’m holding it alongside wonderful Georgie from Tide and Earth, who has just opened a shop on Sheringham High Street. We first met at the makers markets where we traded stories, traded art and formed the most beautiful friendship.

Join me for a hands-on sgraffito workshop carving ceramics, where your designs emerge from clay beneath your fingertips. Sip coffee made with pure love, and make something beautiful to take home — a piece of yourself, born by the sea.
